Hi Noah. Just my two cents since you haven't gotten a response to this: Soft nodes are really just token staking so we're not actually "running" anything. We just have to remember to restake at the first of each month. The validator nodes form has been available since test net and they've probably got thousands of requests by now. Presumably, they will onboard validator nodes from this list until they reach some (unknown afaik) number and then will open it up such that anyone can launch their node(s) on the network. Of course, the number of nodes deployed (and the timing of their deployment) will be determined to a large extent by the number of State Channels requiring nodes to validate their transactions, I don't think anyone has any idea how long it will take to onboard all 5500+ soft nodes to "real" nodes.
