Serious question, since I can even find it on the

DeFiChain HP:
What’s actually the value proposition of defi chain?

Who is using it except for Liquidity mining. I mean on the dex you can only trade d-tokens, right? So it’s useless for anyone who has let’s say ETH or BTC and wants to swap?
(You need to wrap it first, right?)

Access to “stocks” is kinda a bad joke, since you don’t actually own shares of the companies, right?
(Which should be the only reason to buy stocks)

I’m not trolling - I have serious interest in knowing what I could tell someone outside of DeFiChain (I.e “my dad”) what the benefit is.

Having a stock = having a part of the company and future profits (for example dividends). The token does not have these attributes, therefore the token should be priced way lower than the ticker price. You are getting way way less for your money when buying the token and essentially overpaying massively. Please correct me where I am wrong

Tokenised stocks are a synthetic representation of said stock. Of course it should follow the oracle pricing of the stock. How else would the base price of the token be derived? We can’t randomly assign it a value because then what would be the point of even naming the token after the stock? Might as well call it token a, token b, token c. The reason for tokenised stocks is to provide a ‘secondary market’ for who wants to speculate in a decentralised way, 24/7. Not everyone has access to the stock market, and not every stock trader is interested in voting rights for a company. Also, not every type of stock confers voting right as well. Base price mirrors the real stock, while trading value is derived from market movements and buy-sell pressure on the DEX. Try to disassociate from the notion that a token must confer all the attributes of the actual stock. It is a crypto token named after a stock, that is all. You can think of it as a gamification of stocks and commodities, but with real world implications because you can trade, buy, sell said tokens with actual money.
