If you run a node are you able to quit

No, the best you can get with the one node is the rewards that accrue to one node. But, your question raises another: For those who were selected for an IntegrationNet node, what is the procedure to get back in line for another node once all the others have theirs? Is there such a procedure yet? Haven't seen it.

Technically people can join as soon as a slot is open. For the short term we can probably expect at least 100 slots to become open because integrationnet validators will be moved to mainnet.

No hard dates for that at the moment, although on the AMA Alex Brandes told us that they are already working on the PRO consensus - so it might be much earlier then most expect :) Metagraphs launching could also provide new ways of earning rewards for DAG holders :)
