So what do the snapshots actually mean? Some body is using the information?

So what do the snapshots actually mean? Some body ...

I'm curious if I'm speaking incorrectly, but I personally think of a snapshot as a row in a giant excel sheet (ledger). May or may not end up with a data point *currently due to data flow, but a representation of the state at that timestamped moment. Doesn't mean someone's using it, but it stands as a flag of truth of that moment, but I'm not sure if I'm speaking accurately.

Snapshots are basically validated data on the network and you could compare it with bitcoin or ethereum blocks. There are two kinds of snapshots for metagraphs - Snapshots on the Metagraph itself and snapshots on the gL0 (on the Hypergraph layer). This information can be used by other Metagraphs and/or business and just depends on the respective Metagraph to decide (they could encrypt the data and make it not useable for the public or only useable by paying a fee to the Metagraph). Snapshots can be triggered via time or events and transactions are part of the event triggered snapshots hence you can have more snapshots then transactions.

Thanks guys, appreciate the feedback. Iv read them about 10 times each😅 trying to get my head round it. I think Iv got it. It's just such a new concept for me, but love learning. Could you say snapshots is stored information taken at that moment, and it's there on Skynet stored for whenever that information is needed?

How much dag does a snapshot cost?

In the first phase it will be free, there will be an update that will officially introduce fees though :)
