In times where AI is becoming widely available it is easy to fake information as we've never seen before. Image and audio manipulation are on a level where it is hard for a human to distinguish between real and artificial. In the 2nd Beyond The Block episode with both Johns they talked about how ZK proofs can be used to verify image data. Now you need an immutable ledger to store that information on.

Proof of Work is based on solving complex mathematical problems where anyone can enter with the right hardware. It's only relying on math. Proof of Stake on the other side involves participation through voting, making it an interactive system which introduces uncertainties regarding behavior and network control. As of right now there aren't that many smart contract POW chains and even less ones that can scale.

The only dApp I'm aware of that uses the multichain architecture is Swarms Finance. All others don't have the need for scaling their dApp just yet which is why they don't focus on it.
