re: developments like this to its holders/community? it seems to me that whenever it fits, its a "permissionless open blockchain that loves and values community" and whenever it fits its "private LLC with internal processes you guys are not privy to, and thats our right"

There is information that can be shared, there is information that can’t… whether that is due to a NDA or other strategic reason. Honestly… MANY within the company don’t even know the partnership identifies. So no… it’s not just a decision to hold back details. I’m very excited to see this land both internally AND externally. Time just sucks, but it comes with the territory.
