Are there any possibilities that Star Atlas is a scam?

They made us believe that the project is revolutionary, there were huge sponsorships and incentives, however there isn’t any game online so far.
They took our money to buy ships or badges or some shit like that and still make us wait for 5-6 weeks.
Nobody shares any exact date for game start and any other specific details. I’m going to get worried if it continues like this. We trusted them in the first place, but until now, Star Atlas is just a huge disappointment for me.
