that block one was trying to help find new block producers that would excite the EOS community.
Obviously google cloud is now a candidate. Any other companies being worked on?
Because what decentralized communities really need is Google, Amazon, Wells Fargo, Walmart and Nike ordering our blocks. 🤦♂️
You are not wrong.... unfortunately, decentralization is often at odds with token price.
Dan, do you still feel that EOS has the best technology?
I was typing the same question. Now there are new blockchains claiming high performance.
its still the best for devs
Most of his net worth is in Bitcoin. That’s all you really need to know.
Why does that matter? I didn’t ask him if EOS is the best investment opportunity
As long as you are admitting EOS isn’t the best investment opportunity, that’s fine.
I truly can’t stand you Steve
That is such a silly comment.
same here🤝
Question, if EOS maxes out TPS it can do, how does it scale? Side chains don't seem like they would work because EOS is first in first out, so you would always have a bottleneck.
I like that answer
Thanks for responding Dan. I know you don’t want to be constantly involved in drama, but it’s great to have you back in the community. Please continue to participate in the community and not just behind the scenes.
It's hard to say unless you've kept up with all other blockchains in the space, which would take a team of full time workers to research
Fair enough. I don’t know what I don’t know. That said, I see no clear path to dramatic improvements over eosio in raw performance of general purpose contracts
You said in the past that B1 had IBC but they’re not releasing it. Can you and your team re-create IBC? Do you plan to?
We have some good IBC solutions coming
do you have any opinion about solana? it's quite successful now.
Do you have more or less confidence in dPOS now that you’ve seen it in action?
I don’t think Eden would exist if he had confidence in his existing consensus model. It’s ideal for corpos and consortia, not truly decentralized public blockchains. Hybrid consensus is more ideal for DPoS in that config, which is what he’s basically doing now.
What ‘significant’ things fall under your definition of general purpose contracts sand what ‘significant’ things don’t? Thanks!
True. It's very difficult to stay up to speed with one blockchain project as dynamic as a smart contract platform, let alone 100 blockchains all trying to be the fastest
Without users and businesses, decentralization in the desert is not decentralization
Unless it’s your job, because that research informs your design specifications and roadmaps.
If you spend all your time worrying about what others are doing then you won’t have time to innovate. I’d like to see the new signature types that Bitcoin supports added to eos. When something material shows up every knows and we can work to adapt the best.
This is under the mandate of the sponsored WG+
Not many people doing that type of job though. Very rare is this unicorn.
"Through comprehensive research and consultation with experts both inside and outside of the EOS ecosystem, the WG+ will also give us a chance to look at what’s happening on other blockchains, what already exists on EOS, how it can be improved, and if anything that could be leveraged exists on other blockchains. Once the research has been completed, each working group will make recommendations indicating which items are the highest priority, and a detailed plan about the scope of work, dependencies, and cost basis for each recommendation. All of this research will be presented to the EOS community in the upcoming ‘blue papers’. The ENF wants WG+ to look across the whole blockchain and crypto sectors, to truly analyze and understand what has been successful, why, and perhaps even more important, why not. Often in the blockchain world it’s easy for developers to get locked inside our own bubbles. Attention is often focused entirely on what’s going on within our own echo chambers, ignoring critical learning opportunities. When EOS as a network ultimately raises its head and looks at what’s happening elsewhere, we all may find some fresh inspiration and thinking." https://medium.com/@YvesLaRoseNonaka/next-level-collaboration-on-eos-with-sponsored-working-groups-f629ae501977
btw where do people debate and follow whats new in other chains?
I would call that being aware of other ways to solve a problem that may be better than your initial ideas. So you don’t go “innovating” everyone into a dead end that doesn’t work in practice.
twitter, reddit, Mcdonald's
i meant people who will report findings
Not aware of any community that exists having those kinds of discussions. Best way would be to find skilled technicians within other ecosystems (ideally through a recommendation or referral if one exists) and pay them a consulting rate to pick their brains. Then follow up with research based on what they share
I trust no people. Especially those who report things.
there are deep technical groups, many on telegram where people discuss these things, eos should have its own
which chain you want?
its all over the place, depends on the topic, one that often focus on zk research for instance https://t.me/joinchat/ET1mddGXRoyCxZ-7
