I just want to check my understanding is correct.
For the property "canWipe" does that really mean that the token owner can basically burn all of anyone's tokens?
Anyone?
You can read what each of the things mean here https://docs.elrond.com/developers/esdt-tokens/
It has to be used with can freeze, so if that option is turned on the owner can freeze an account, then use can wipe which will essentially burn them
Certain regulations, for certain tokens may require this kind of ability.
Thanks for the response. Another quick question, can this be canWipe be changed at any time during the token's life cycle? So, for example, if it's set to off (essentially "canWipe") it can be set to canWipe by the owner?
If can upgrade is on then the features can essentially be changed
Can upgrade can be turned off and on or is it set once at token creation and unchangeable?
If it's off then that's it.. If it's on then it can be turned off
Thanks again. Based on that I would guess that, ultimately, the safest token (in regards to protecting from potentially owners changing your holdings) would have pretty much everything set to off. Obviously, the down side to that is that the tokenomics are pretty much set and can never be changed/improved accept for moving tokens around to different wallets.
Yeah, pretty much, of course it doesn't mean that if can upgrade is on they are doing anything untoward, but it's essential to DYOR
Yes, I appreciate that and I can understand why it would be useful to be on of you would like to change settings based on DAO suggestions, for example. This is part of my research and I'm learning all the time!
