no. there's not 1 single good argument for that period to be less than 10 days. it gives stability and security to the ecosystem. again, don't stake 100% of your EGLD is the best approach if you find the 10 days too much.

Yes but the staking part of the network provides stability and security to the network and that has to also be a must, to adjust the “cool down period” according to the number of active users to maybe less 1/2 days would bake a big difference in the near future
