Actually, the growth and adoption have been rather stagnant. The adoption chart within Maiar shows 2 million users but half of those are secondary accounts made for certain KYC processes.

Agreed. Adoption of elromd network hasnt really happened yet. With the exceptiom of very few (itheum, ride, etc) i dont see quality projects on elrond

This is not to say the network in itself isn’t great, because it is! Its growth within the last and a half year has been amazing, to be honest but it feels like it hit a ceiling from which it can’t move up anymore.

I do agree with you on all of the above but i choose to keep a positive mindset just because i know the project in itself as well as the people behind it are both lucrative and promising. But i wouldn’t keep all my eggs in this one basket.

Which ones? I keep seeing articles even now comparing layer 1s and their attributes, and elrond is missing - even though the stats are better. I wonder if they don't get the media hype the other get because the others are more centralised and 'owned' ?

Stop comparing them on paper and start using them. Start using each l1, start using their dapps, use their ecosystem. How slicks does it look? How does it feel? This is what actually matters for adoption. Users who like to USE that L1. Not paper technicals or what one guys compares to another.
