Updating the energy of your XMEX means increasing the energy of it. The energy of XMEX is what determines rewards for it in the various contexts in which it can earn rewards, such as farming, metastaking, and metabonding. XMEX is nearly completely non-transferable, but MEX has no restrictions on being transferred or sold. XMEX can be converted to MEX, but with a penalty ranging from 80% down to zero, depending on how much "energy" it has. Energy of XMEX goes down a little each day. XMEX with the max energy would take 4 years to go to zero energy. When it has zero energy it can be converted back to MEX without penalty. When it is fully charged (max energy) it would be an 80% penalty (loss) to convert. The tradeoff: The more energy XMEX has, the more benefit you get. The less energy, the less penalty to convert to MEX. Benefit is always in proportion to the total energy of the XMEX.
