https://t.me/Eva_coop and they have telegram chat
They never launched I spoke to them
Never launched
Are you sure about that. Its an an actual operating business currently. Maybe you mean they never launched on EOS, which would be true as they use a private chain.
They never launched period.
maybe we're talking about different things. The Eva Coop I'm thinking about is mostly a Canadian app, and is especially big in Quebec. Unless their marketing material is fabricated 😅 https://eva.coop/#/about
not true. When you go to Montreal airport, there are even lanes for Eva, same as Taxi parking spots. Eva has been live on Antelope fork for a few years now.
Isn't this their CEO? He wrote this as a reply to Brock Pierce yesterday on X https://fixupx.com/RaphaelGaudreau/status/1722679908386635942
Yes thats him. Unfortunate to see. What's interesting is their business is no longer blockchain based at all, which I think is an interesting point that we hear many make (esp BTC Maxis). Which is you don't necessarily need blockchain for your biz/app, regular data bases work just fine, but often we see people trying to force blockchain integration bc it was/is trendy. Its good they've still managed to keep their biz alive though...Uber needs more competition :)
The blockchain should mainly be for token distribution, voting right and piece of ownership in a network. Blockchain allows for transparency and accountability so it makes it possible to transfer value, store value, be part of an open network, referendum, property rights to users who support a network or an application. If a game doesn’t really need any of those things then there is no need to put it on a blockchain.
Ya makes sense. For Eva they are similar to Uber but with a few other aspects of what they do relating to delivery services. I don't quite recall why exactly they leveraged blockchain in terms of the value props that it brings, so does make sense they've moved away from it. I know they had a some technical challenges with using EOSIO, so hopefully things have become better for them now.
^^ for reference. You just said it all fancy like.
Interesting that he is inadvertently calling attention to the reality that he was only trying to build Eva on a blockchain in hopes of getting funding. Clearly blockchain is not *needed* for a rideshare application, although there are probably some very interesting things that could be done with it. Which it appears he either never actually understood, or he just wasn't tenacious enough to keep at it.
you seriously think that's "fancy-like" (missed the hyphen). Or are you just looking for opportunities to throw jabs...and I'm the one who creates drama in here.
How do you get “only trying to build Eva on a blockchain in hopes of getting funding” out of “without proper execution and support”?
I just don’t appreciate the involuntary “blame the victim” response you seem to exemplify.
I did have a few conversations with guys from their team. I really liked them and in general I think it would've been cool to see them succeed with EOSIO vs what did take place. Like I've said many times in this chat (but people like our trusty ENF comms manager will conveniently ignore) is I too am very disappointed with how B1 operated post ICO.
Are you saying you think he actually believed blockchain was necessary to build an Uber competitor? And that he only figured out it wasn't necessary at all after not getting the support they needed?
Necessary, or a value add? I don't know, why not ask him before presuming it was just a trend following cash grab?
I think the fact that the conversation shifted to "yeah well Eva didn't probably need blockchain anyway" is indicative of the greater redirection here.
If he understood or believed in the value add, one would think he'd have mentioned, despite his company growing without blockchain, that perhaps someday he would find a way to integrate it again. But it sounded a lot more like "been there, tried that, not looking back"...as if he was scorned by blockchain itself, not a company (b1) that failed to live up to its expectations.
its also not a redirection...its literally what he wrote in the chat.
