I am updating my Byron wallet to the mainnet wallet

(finally). But the mainnet wallet has been stuck on replaying the blockchain 98% for 3 days. My computer is old but that is ages. Does anyone have any advice please?

Ps scammers don’t message me as I will block and report you without answering.

You could use a light wallet app to avoid the RAM, disk, and time wasted by Daedalus. You would need to claim/transfer the Byron wallet with Yoroi, because all other wallet apps cannot handle Byron. But after that, I would switch to Eternl or Typhon, since they are *much* better than Yoroi.

Thanks, I tried Yoroi but it wouldn’t accept the Byron seed (different lengths) and said I would need to upgrade the Daedalus first. Unless you know for sure it’s possible?

In Yoroi, you first create/import the new Shelley wallet, then choose the claim/transfer section on the left and the “Legacy Daedalus Wallet” section. There definitely is a selection for “12-word Daedalus wallet”.

Will that work if the new mainnet wallet hasn’t been fully created yet? I’m still just waiting in the loading screen effectively

Yes, it will. There is no registration operation on the Cardano chain. You can just start using a new wallet, seed phrase.
