I read some forum post about issues with restoring seed

(original one from Daedalus) into ledger device, that it doesnt work because of different method of how private keys are extracted from the same seed. So I wonder, whats the point of buying HW wallet then? If you cant recover your old wallet with it... that option in Deadalus (pair a HW device) becomes useless. Any opinion on that?

You cant restore your seedphrase which you generated with Daedalus in your Ledger. If you buy a hardware wallet, its always recommanded to generate a completly new seedphrase on the hardware wallet itself, otherwise its missing the point.
