to make sure I have it right?
Arkefi allows you to get cash on hand for your art: you sell it to Arkefi for half its estimated value, with an option to buy it back later at the original price + some extra fees.
Arkefi then tokenizes the art, allowing multiple people to lay claim to its selling fee: a portion of either the price the original owner pays upon exercising the option to buy it back, or the price that Arkefi receives if the owner *doesn't* do that and Arkefi sells the work on the open market (less, I am assuming, some fees that go to Arkefi for doing the considerable work of researching, certifying, etc., the art, and storing its story on the blockchain).
Is this a decent summary? You gave a really good walk-through example of what this process might look like, here: https://t.me/allianceblock/449339 but there's always a chance I didn't quite get it.
Hehe, you’ve got a pretty good grasp of how Arkefi works! Just one little clarification: Arkefi won’t be selling the art for less than its subsidized* value on the open market. Remember, we’re acquiring the art at about 50% of its original market value. So, our aim would be to sell it close to its original value, which gives that “up to 50%” potential increase. Your understanding is pretty much on point, and I’m glad you found the walk-through example helpful.
Outstanding! What would happen if you weren't able to sell the artwork at close enough to the subsidized value (I presume that there is a threshhold the sale absolutely must meet)? Would you pend it for a future sale? Also, does the artwork physically enter your possession during this process?
In the unlikely event that we can’t sell the artwork at a value close to its original worth, we would aim to sell it closer to the subsidized value. Our selection process is designed to list assets or artworks with the pedigree of artists like Dahn Vo, making it highly unlikely that we would face difficulty selling them in the open art market. As for your second question, yes, the artwork does physically enter our possession during this process to ensure its safety and authenticity.
Do you put the works on display? (Is there an opportunity for, say, "frequent flyers" who repeatedly purchase RFTs of arworks to use their history as a proof of participation, and get access to exclusive events or showings?)
