Metrics2.0 spec http://metrics20.org/spec/ for many reasons. It discards the existing conventions and reinvents the wheel. It assumes some data-model that isn't native for any TSDB. It defines only ingestion format without access methods (why the hell?). The meta-tags are a mess. They should be stored but they aren't a part of a series name, they are a property of the data point itself. With good query language, this (things like monitoring agent name) can be represented with a regular tag. There is a magic tags/values that should be interpreted in a specific way. No distinction between values, timestamps, and tag values.
