Can VirtualBox Run on EC2? The Short Answer The short answer is, technically, yes. You can install and run VirtualBox on an Amazon EC2 instance. However, this doesn’t mean that it’s always a good idea, or the best practice, to do so. Running a virtual machine inside another virtual machine (a practice known as nested virtualization) can lead to performance degradation and other complications.
