Your choices are literally Fedora Workstation and Arch Linux at this point in time.
I will say too Nix has been pretty good so far
Last time I checked it looked decent but it had such low user base that package availability was a problem, and that was recent
It's got a lot of packages(rivals arch usually), but yeah low user base
Am I looking wrong or is kwin at 6.0.5? Because that's too dated.
on stable branch 6.0.5 on unstable (dev) it's 6.1.5
Looks like the package availability woes are still going then, hope it picks up¸ I like the concept.
well archlinux is in terms of package availability top notch
Yeah, like I said, I really like the NixOS concept, but I am having enough fun sinking time into a well maintained Linux with huge availability already, no need to make it worse :D
i am trying to install AMD Vivado 80 GB IDE on it and i have run into some problems... yes...
NixOS is also well mantained, it’s like one of the oldest distros that are still alive
Even for Plasma it's stuck 2 releases behind
Not NixOS unstable i reckon
Which is the rolling release version
By unstable they mean arch linux unstable btw, not “oh fuck it’s all going haywire i didn’t sign up for this” unstable
Uh, it's clearly marked as a devel repo based on the screenshot above
1) the latest version is 6.1.5 and no, that’s not a development version
I mean the latest in NixOS, i am running 6.2.0 in tw too
No it’s just to differentiate it from the stable repository
https://nixos.org/manual/nixos/unstable/ The unstable channel, nixos-unstable. This corresponds to NixOS’s main development branch, and may thus see radical changes between channel updates. It’s not recommended for production systems.
Correct, but it’s just as “stable” as arch is
... it's as stable as Arch [testing] is, it's a devel repo, reee.
