in my mail addresses, my email provider gave me two secret strings for some kind of verification. Something like
abc123.mydomain.com TXT xyz789
But I accidentally set the TXT value to my root domain (e.g. mydomain.com) instead of this secret subdomain. I quickly fixed this, but I wonder... Is it a security issue if someone else knows this generated subdomain and its TXT value?
No
How does this verification work? I searched online and found two things: SPF and DKIM. Which one should I read about?
I don’t know. Depends on the format. Does your TXT contain spf?
It's a string of 40 "random" characters - lower case letters and digits.
it's just verification
