Hey, if Intel's website says that a given CPU can

handle up to 2GB of memory, does it mean 2GB total or 2GB per slot? The CPU is very old btw.

Any point in trying to revive such device then? My friend asked if he can do anything to make it perform better. It's currently running win XP with 1 gig of RAM.

Don't think you can do much with it. maybe turn it into a retro game emulator, or a dumb router. doesn't seem worth it imo

if the person is fine with just using it as a linux box for menial tasks, which unless he is a developer he doesn't has, or won't want to maintain himself, then sure...
