I want to go deep with it, can anyone recommend a good book on this subject?
I'm not sure there's much to learn about XML. It's just a way to represent data. If you haven't done it yet, you could learn what XML schema is, but I'm not sure you can go deep with it or actually "study" it.
Nothing there except the markup, maybe patterns, standards, is like HTML? (just syntax to learn)
HTML has a set of standard tags and that's why it has a lot more tutorials and documention. XML by itself is nothing much, but it's eXtensible so you just apply the rules you learnt from w3schools to any xml you encounter and find out about the extended stuff in the docs of the software associated with said xml (Maven's pom.xml for example)
