have to type the password on every login?
e.g. gnome keyring on linux
yes, use an ssh key to authenticate, it's also more secure than typing your password take a look at this: https://www.digitalocean.com/community/tutorials/how-to-configure-ssh-key-based-authentication-on-a-linux-server
the password is for the key
> A passphrase is an optional addition. If you enter one, you will have to provide it every time you use this key (unless you are running SSH agent software that stores the decrypted key). We recommend using a passphrase, but if you do not want to set a passphr what "SSH agent software" are there for Windows that integrates with the built-in openssh client?
i have no clue what happened but ssh-agent -L now shows that the keys are enrolled to the agent even after a reboot. i can swear that the keys were getting cleared on reboot and that i googled and found on stackexchange that ssh-agent's keys are meant to be transient or something like that.
