me to explore things otherwise I would never have.. HP put an omen key on my laptop (in place of the home key) which opens some stupid app on windows and is useless on Linux - I spent a few hours recently figuring out how these things work and finally was able to modify the HP WMI kernel module to support the custom key, turns out it wasn't handling the key code
How could task manager send data, btw??
I had to learn iptables too a bit to setup SSH over VPN only on my server
Thanks for the suggestion btw, but unfortunately I don't have a permanent VPS or local machine I might be able to move my data to yet.. I don't want to have it my machine cuz there's no backup
What stops any program on your computer to send data somewhere over the network? Your calculator app has as many permissions as your browser. > cuz there's no backup how about creating such backup? Buy a few HDDs. One for the machine. One for backup to be kept at your home. One for second backup to be kept off site (at friends' home or something). And then another copy to be encrypted locally and uploaded to whatever cloud provider you prefer.
