vim(except for sys apps or data mining etc, not for large enterprise and specially in gui apps.) why would an enterprise dev use emacs or vim? realy how many devs use those editors instead of Jetbrain IDEs?
Actually quite a lot of developers use those editors
1. How many devs? https://insights.stackoverflow.com/survey/2016#developer-environment-per-occupation 2. And with editors, unless whole team uses 1 IDE, the most important thing is what works for you, not what's most popular. 3. Why? Because vim is designed to allow for efficent text navigation and manipulation without moving your hands around. 4. If you don't wish to abandon your current editor / IDE, most of them offer vim emulation or neovim integration.
