no one talks about how the crypto space stole the name from the semantic web?).
Ownership of the data isn't on the hands of the data creator, because of the immutable nature of the blockchain, which means once data is uploaded, it will remain up as long as there are nodes on the network. If someone really own their data, that means they can delete it if they want, which only becomes more difficult in the "web3.0".
"The Network" only means other people's servers.
Autonomous content moderation isn't a good thing. This is shown by all the big social networks, which although they have automated moderation systems, they still need a lot of human moderators to correctly perform and verify the task.
so, what is "web 3.0" ? 🤔
a buzzword that till recently made you $$$ from VC investors
still the vc support is too big if people claim theres no use for blockchain
what's the use for blockchain? 🙂
and that's the thing, nobody knows 🙂
I never understand why crypto enthusiasts claim that web3 makes "creators own their data". It doesn't at all. The private key holder owns the data. If the creator loses his key he suddenly loses ownership, which is stupidly easy and happens all the time. Ownership can be protected by law and court, which doesn't exist in the world of crypto.
and their "decentralized and distributed" claims are more often then not simply false. Most, even those distributed systems end up centralizing resources. Most people work with crypto through exchanges which have almost full control and are centralized.
i don't remember exactly where or who said, but it was that for blockchain to be truly "decentralized" everyone would have to have their own node on the network, which most people don't want to and end up just using whatever node/server someone else has.
of course, like most people not using their own wallets. It's so much easier to have an intermediary you can trust, right? 😄
