No. In most cases i know there is no important information in the article.
Some people may go nuts about it, but they go nuts about everything that does not follow the gramatic rules to the point.
Im not an germanist and my scores in german were regulary in the 3-5 range, so i can't vouch for every case.
there is "der See" and "die See" which mean "the lake" and "the sea" respectively
