Hey, guys. Do modern NFT projects implement their own marketplaces? CryptoKitties

is an old project, and I see that they have their own marketplace: https://www.cryptokitties.co/search?include=sale
What was the reason for that? Also you can check that there're 0 items on sale, which looks strange. Wasn't OS developed back in those days yet, so there were no popular marketplaces? Nevertheless, nowadays CK are also on OpenSea, where the sales are going.

Is the only reason for creating your own project's marketplace to avoid popular marketplaces' fees?

As for me, I'd rather choose OS marketplace and pay some fee, because I'm used to it, everyone knows it and you're familiar with its interface.
