I was recently asked about "ob_start" method in my interview

and I had no idea about it (I read about it afterwards). Is it used quite frequently? I mean will someone reject a candidate because of not knowing it?

I don't think it should be a good reason. But anyway, it's common. It's used to buffer the output headers and wait to render the whole code then send the headers.
