Yes i have. Do i need to tamper with PHP.ini

to get it working also i understand that i am also suppose to type in my email configuration settings somewhere and this includes host,port number, i have typed in every other thing but i cant seem to locate where i am suppose to type in the email and password in my magento backend, any idea where to find that?

I finally got it working, now mails are delivering i used "SENDMAIL" to get it working although mails are now delivering i get this "Error filtering template: Template file 'header.html' is not found." in my mail instead of the actual mail content. I should be able to fix this but i don't but i dont mind your suggestions especially if you've had this same issue before. Thanks!

Magneto or PHP generally doesn't need to know about your mail configuration because it's system related info, php uses mail() function to try to send mail, this function is the equivalent of the cli function mail which itself also picks up a the already configured system mail sendmail/postfix etc. You should first configure the mail in ur box, preferably install postfix and purge sendmail so you could easily configure it, else sendmail is hell buggy and shitty
