Hmmm . so you say that parend_date solution doesn't

work for my case ?

and about sequential IDs , can you explain more ? because I have 3 sort type for my schema : 1- newest 2- oldest 3- best (this sorted by a field called score) and in all of these cases I want to parent-child structure remains

parent_date works because of the same value for all branch nodes (parent and it's children). Thus 1st level sort works for branch at once and 2nd level sort becomes active inside branch. That has not much sence for 3+ level tree. Maybe you could build one date for all branch but it would be a mess inside.
