Is there a way I can simulate network failure while

being connected to a service like kafka?
For example: I have an issue that my server is not able to connect to Kafka and consume messages once the kafka is down and up again later. Is there some way i can simulate this on my local os x machine?

If you are using Kafka streams, know that as of version 2.5 or below, there is no way for your client to know that the connection to the server has been lost
