micro service and not just service or distributed application? May sound abit stupid, but I need to prepare some stuff for non technicals...

Add in your search, FaaS, google function, Aws Lambdas, each cloud has its own .. This takes us to another serverless architecture. I use this a lot by the way.

It might be they were called so to highlight that they are the opposite of the monolithic architecture regular monolithic app is also a service I suppose
