wondering if you plan on ditching Go once knowing Rust? If not, why?
Im asking because im in the middle of learning Rust and i have not yet decided if i want to still keep up with the Go ecosystem after knowing Rust
thanks
We just recently tried to write a new microservice in Rust… and we scrapped it because it was too much effort 😄 Even though Rust seems like a nice language - you’ll usually be more productive in Go. Rust is a very complicated language compared to Go. I don’t see the point of switching to Rust because Go is usually fast enough and in cases when it isn’t the problem’s usually just bad Go code doing tons of allocs generating tons of garbage
I learned Rust first then Go
Actually you can learn these two languages. It might be bit complicated know only one programming language nowadays. Yes, somebody can say "Hej, I know the PYTHON and it can do everything" - these people are retards. You can work in company, and client go to you and say "Hej, I want your company to create some shit for my, but I want it to be created in Rust, because my competitor have the same shit created in Rust and it works fine" (I really have the same situation, when client came to us and ask, can we create tool in SCALA, because he's competitor has the same app in SCALA. Nobody in our company know Scala language and we list the money :/ )
