Its useful to learn it but I suggest to approach it just if you have a really good knowledge of PHP language. CMSs should not be learned by functionality but leaned on how they works and how they are coded (understand how to code addons mainly), because there are bunch of people that know better than you how to configure a wordpress blog (people specialized only in this) but need developers that know how to code in order to integrate custome features
