Okay. If you are using the system installed php, navigate to php.ini file usually in /etc/php/php.ini and uncomment the line extension=mycrypt.so by removing the semicolon at the begining of the line. If that line is missing you have to install mycrypt or php_mycrypt using your package manager. I am guessing aptitude or apt-get If that doesn't solve it find where xammp has its php files and navigate to its php.ini and follow the steps above. Restart xammp. If it's still persistent install mycrypt for xammp's php and uncomment the line extension=mycrypt in xammps php.ini file.
