I do understand that, I will try pass by reference

too once. And for looking indirectly, I know these problems are really hard to trace but still, could you suggest some places where I could look into? For now I am only looking into the functions returning and allocating the memory.

tbh i didn't even read your code, in c it can be anything anywhere. first use valgrind if there is no issue then follow the sick variable if you could not find the problem then go for bigger scopes and other related parts at last execute all of the program part by part line by line fix issues you will find it. sticking in one place when there is no clue is waste of time. use qtcreator as an all in one solution makes it easier
