I have a problem with one of the program files

There is a dat file with numbers and words inside When changing the number or letter of the program does not work and when deleting the software update works fine When I unzip the update file I found a compressed file with a bin size of 15 MB inside the C codes can only be read by HEX and found the same dat file inside it with the word check I also discovered that when a program is updated it only reads from this bin file Do any great idea ??
