....right?? hence i dont need to use visual studio for all this ....right?? also this will be cross platform(im hoping so)....dont know much about that too??

Um.. yea it won't need visual studio. What do you really want to do exactly? What (libs/frameworks, etc) are you using to create your application?

For it to be cross platform you need to set up your tool chain. C++ has source code compatibility as should know already
