Hi I was reading my university db notes, came across something

called "multi value attribute" which is specified with two lines in an ER table, and it's definition says that it could have more than one value ( example: a person could have multiple degrees )
and my question is that, how is it implemented? shouldn't it be a relationship? if it is, why is it specified as an attribute in the ER table?

ok I found out that it is implemented in a relationship or can be resolved by adding more attributes, can you tell me when to use this kind of attribute in my ER diagram so I can distinguish between it and one to many relationship?
