This solution works for parent with depth 0 & children

with depth 1 ?
Is that possible for children that they are parent too ?

Nope: parend_date should be top_parent_date for that, and so for each level... Maybe it's easier to make IDs sequental? I.e. sorted by date itself. Then you can sort by full path directly without using dates at all.
