I wouldn't say so. Is it harder? Yes, mainly because

it's harder to learn than OOP or imperative, but you gain a lot in the middle term. I have also to say that it requires from Functional Programmers to make an effort to be less obscure when writing code, which seems to be a pattern in FP

I agree, and I'm definitely going the extra mile to learn the patterns. But in some project where your team has to Collab with other client's engineers and Devs you cannot always go the pure functional way
