That'S my first time reading about JVM releasing unused memory

from the pool, ignoring the minHeap value...never knew that. I always though GC only released memory occupied by garbages back to pool but not dellocated them back to OS - thus why I said what I said to the client...then I was wrong..

Is this by default? Do you have to set anything for this behaviour tp take place?

I actually did gc monitoring (during load test) and surpisingly, the RAM usage never change at all while all the tomcat instances were running.

There is no minHeap. Xms is initial heap.
