mySQL. Arch recommends mariadb.
Would it be a problem if I use Maria instead of mysql? Are they different enough to make a difference at beginner level?
You can still install MySQL on Arch. Does your teacher know anything about using or installing it on Arch? Would your teacher be OK if MySQL DB is running on Docker?
Ik I can install mysql.. I just prefer doing it from community repo instead of aur. My teacher probably doesn't knows or cares. We as student are supposed to learn and execute some commands. My only worry is how different it will be.. just so I don't loose marks.. Anyway Thank you :) I'll just continue with mysql maybe
Then if it were me, I just use the docker version. Done and simple. No difference. Unless there's some hardcore stuff to run on MySQL DB, then I would vagrant a VM with one.
I never used docker or any containers.. I'll check it out. Thanks :)
I'm the MySQL package maintainer in AUR. If you want I've the pre-built MySQL packages in my repository Apart this, mariadb is mostly similar to MySQL and you shouldn't spot any differences while you learn it
