Originality doesn't make something good, originality can be good but

that's not the factor that makes it good. say, a crazy original idea of mine is that humans live inverted, and travel via pillows. name one game, book, or movie like that. none. it's original! but? makes absolutely zero sense and is stupid. however, if done right you could really make something funny and enjoyable out of it, but it's that factor that makes it good, not "oh it's original"

I agree completely with this. There's a reason why a lot of good games aren't original but are still considered good games; It's because it's all in the implementation. A good idea that's badly done is as good as a bad idea.
