If u are using godot engine You can draw pauses And merge them together in one sprite So when you move your sprite in the game you can choose which animation pause u like
There is no one way of creating animated sprites. It depends on the type of animation. For instance you might be going for cut out animation, or a bit involved hand drawn animation. The process is very different for both the cases.
For skeletal animation - Spine, for pixel art animation - Aseprite.
