Is this a bug or some wierdo cpp feature? because

if i do it one by one.. not wrapped in function, i get different objects.. and x sure as hell is not static.. and any magic creating static objects is one more reason for me to learn java

Yeah, your short lived temporary was always allocated on the stack at the same spot probably
