^ your hadware
a 6 year old laptop yes i want new system
4 gb i5 4thgen
more details are required but unreal is not a good choice for you anyways
Why is UE not good for his project?
crashes a lot on 8gb and less ram.
Source? Why would it crash with 8gigs?
and his goal is a big open world game
Oh for open world maybe not(depends on the size)
source is their docs and your experience.
https://docs.unrealengine.com/4.26/en-US/Basics/RecommendedSpecifications/ their minum suggested system. but other details also are effective. and even with this a proper c++ project is not possible. and i could not bake lights for a reasonably big map, full dynamic approach also led to performance issues. atleast 32gb with a proper cas latency is required for a minimal open world game.
Yeah, maybe. I thought we were talking about running the game and not the editor.
runtime performance depends on many details but he needs dev parts of reqs
Ok. The game wouldn't crash, the editor might as it is less stable and involves alot of 'moving parts'.
i even had crash on opening editor dropdown menus
Your computer sucks dude. Just kidding.. yeah, makes sense.
that's why i upgraded some parts but also removed ue4 totally and now trying to work with cryengine.
Heard good things about it.
regardless of system requirements you will face with a lot work which at the end will not perform well enough
but lower limit seems ok for cry sandbox and a lil game or other genres like a horror first person game with multiple levels like outlast
bcoz ue required minimum 16 gb ram and maximum 64gb ram
Maximum, you mean there will be issues if you have more than 64gb?
It's 8GB by the docs that was sent here
its recommended sry for maximum
16gb ram is fine for UE4, recommended is 32gb
It won't crash but the compilation times will be very big to do any real development 😔
