A quick question : if you can only have one

primary linux partition , is it better to have root as the primary partition or boot as the primary partition ?

given that i can only have one primary partition and the rest have to be logical ...

yes i'm using MBR and dual booting with windows for the first time in a long while ... previously i had 4 primary partitions for linux but now i wanna do the dual boot thing and windows wouldn't allow me to have only one partition because it creates a system reserved partition even if you chose to add only one partition for it...

Why do you want to separate /boot and root (/)? You can have just root.
