cause it doesn't fragment the data like Windows does. I have not heard of a single case of needing to defrag in Linux and I am not sure there are even tools for it?
OS does not fragment the data. FS does. CoW filesystems like btrfs or zfs do fragment the data.
Thank you for this insight. I use to have a FreeNAS server that used zfs and I think I do remember it having scheduled jobs for something of this nature
